Marrow
A song about fighting with CFS
📖 Liner Notes & Entstehungsgeschichte lesen
MARROW Verse 1:
I am stone worn smooth by water I cannot see,
Edges softened by the current that won’t let me be.
Each breath a negotiation with the weight I hold,
My spine speaks in a language that the body knows.
Chorus:
I am still. I am breaking. I am here.
The distance between these three is razor thin and clear.
My marrow knows the difference between rest and freeze,
Between the strength to stand and falling to my knees.
Verse 2:
There’s a fist clenched somewhere deep beneath my ribs,
A persistent hum that won’t translate to words.
But I wake. I dress. I show up in the room.
The smallest act becomes an act of defiance, too.
Chorus (repeat):
I am still. I am breaking. I am here.
The distance between these three is razor thin and clear.
Bridge:
Not the kind of strong that roars.
Not the kind that shatters doors.
The kind that bends and doesn’t crack.
The kind that keeps on coming back.
Worn but not defeated yet.
Tired but not gone.
Final Chorus (variation):
I am still. I am breaking. I am here.
And in that contradiction lives what’s real.
I will not pretend the cost is not my cost.
But I will not let the cost be all I am.
